Severe disability

          The assessment and the decision making for the purposes of cash benefits for the  compensation of the social consequences of severe disability, for the purposes of the Severely Disabled Person Card and for the Severely Disabled Person Parking Card ("blue badge card") is regulated by the Act No. 447/2008 Coll. on Cash Benefits for Compensation of Severe Disability and on amending of certain acts.

Severe disability is a disability involving a functional disorder of at least 50%.

A functional disorder is the lack of physical, sensory or mental capacities of an individual, which in view of the expected development of the disability concerned will last for more than 12 months.  

    An application for the provision of a cash benefit for compensation of the consequences of   severe disability, for the issue of a Severely Disabled Person Card, for a card for the Severely Disabled Person with a Guide, for the issue  of a Severely Disabled Person Parking Card, together with the relevant requisites, is submitted to the substantively and locally competent Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family, according to the place of the applicant's permanent residence.

    The Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family in Bratislava and its workplaces in Nitra, Banská Bystrica, Žilina and Košice according to the territorial range of authority shall be the appeal authorities acting within the meaning of the Act No. 447/2008 Coll. on Cash Benefits for Compensation of Severe Disability and on amending of certain acts.
